## Before You Delete a Tracking Container

Deleting a Tracking Container permanently stops Tracklution from collecting, processing, and delivering data for that container.

Before deleting a container, check whether you actually want to stop using Tracklution or whether the container should be transferred to another Tracklution account.

## If you are an agency offboarding a client

If your client wants to continue using Tracklution, do not delete their Tracking Container.

The client can continue using Tracklution either:

- as a direct Tracklution customer, or
- under another agency’s Tracklution account.

Contact [**support@tracklution.com**](mailto:support@tracklution.com) before making any changes. In your email, include:

- Your agency/company name
- The client/company name
- The Tracking Container ID(s)
- Whether the client wants to move to their own direct Tracklution account or to another agency
- The email address associated with the client’s new Tracklution account, if it has already been created
- Your preferred date and time for the migration

If the client is moving to a direct Tracklution account, they should first create an account at [**www.tracklution.com**](http://www.tracklution.com/), add their billing information and decide [**which subscription**](https://www.tracklution.com/pricing/ "https://www.tracklution.com/pricing/") they will continue using Tracklution with.

Depending on the installation method, access to DNS, GTM, Shopify, or other parts of the installation may be needed during the migration. Tracklution Support will help coordinate the required steps.

Existing Connectors do not need to be reconnected after the migration.

## If Tracklution should no longer be used

If the client or website will no longer use Tracklution, we recommend removing the Tracklution installation from the website.

Depending on the installation, this may include removing:

- Tracklution tags from Google Tag Manager
- Tracklution scripts installed directly on the website
- The Shopify Customer Events pixel and webhook
- The Tracklution WooCommerce plugin

You can then delete the Tracking Container from **Settings**.

## Important: deleting a container does not remove Tracklution from your website

Deleting a Tracking Container does **not** automatically remove Tracklution scripts, tags, pixels, plugins, or other installation components from the website.

Once the container is deleted, Tracklution will no longer collect data for that container or send its events to configured Connectors.

The installation itself may still remain on the website. If Tracklution will no longer be used, we therefore recommend removing the installation as well.

### Not sure whether to delete?

If the client may want to continue using Tracklution, or the Tracking Container needs to be transferred to another account, **do not delete the container yet**.

Contact [**support@tracklution.com**](mailto:support@tracklution.com) and we’ll help with the next steps.
